Gold Humanism

The Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award presented by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation honors a graduating medical student and a faculty member who are chosen as exemplars of humanism in medicine. This year’s recipients are Susie B. Phillips, MD, and Ms. Meg Francis, MS4.

Match 2024

It’s April with real spring showers and blooming flowers. It also means that Match Week is behind us, and everyone is working on the next steps. Before moving forward, let’s reflect on what has transpired this match season.

Match Update

Save the date Thursday, May 16, at 12:00 noon for the Match Update. Obtain information about the 2024 match from the UME and GME perspectives. Drs. Loretta Jackson-Williams and Jimmy Stewart will discuss match results, student readiness, other factors that impact students’ competitiveness as well as recent changes and their impact on UMMC MD graduates and residency programs. A WebEx link will be shared on the OME listserv.

DABE Research Day Announcement

Hold the date for the inaugural DABE Research Day! This event will take place in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union Gymnasium on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., with keynote speaker Dr. Loretta Jackson-Williams kicking off the event.

The Summer 2024 SOM Faculty Development Series sessions are scheduled for May through June 2024.

Simple Syllabus: Beneficial for Everyone

Simple Syllabus is a new academic application provided by the Office of eCampus. This tool will soon serve all UMMC schools as a centralized course syllabus creation and maintenance platform.
